I know he loved being a Marine and was very proud to serve his country and fight a war that no one else thought should be fought. I once interviewed him for a chance at getting a scholarship and the one thing I remember most was that he believed what he did was right and never regretted it. If anyone remembers Tom Zwetow and has something they'd like to tell me about him, my family and I would greatly appreciate it. Great website. But I was too young and my father wouldn't let me sign up at age 17 he ran the recruiter out of the house because he lost some brothers in other wars. He said he wasn't going to lose a son to. I was told by the recruiter that I could go in and do clean up work in Viet nam. Because that were I wanted to go. This was in 75 But the was over then but I still wanted to go. I was also looking for any information on a friend of mind that had died a little over 2 years ago. His name was Thomas Zwetow. He was a very dear and important friend THE BEST a person could ever ask for. He deserves to be honored for his service to our country. He was severely wounded in line of duty. Please if anyone could help give him the honor that he deserves I myself and his family he left behind would greatly appreciate it. He was an honorable man that words cannot express. Shared responsibility with a squad of 9th engineers for sweeping half way to Da Nang every day and built a native hospital. Also gave support to TOC. All these years I can't seem to shake the feeling that I was there this morning. I still see the faces covered in red dirt as if time had no dominion. And the smell transports me over time and space to a place so burned into my pshyche that I will never fully be home. Sometimes I just cruise the net and try to navigate the shattered remnants and search for an elusive understanding. |

Yeend of Mobile, Alabama. His was killed while evacuating wounded in his Medi-vac helicopter. I still cry for him and the many I did not know and wonder what might have been. What a horror. |
