Danny was born April 2, 1951 in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Lyle Gene and Rosemary (Jarding) Boom, the second of three children. The family moved to Portland in 1952 where Danny was raised. He attended Columbia Grade School and Adams High School. Danny joined the United States Army at the age of 16 and served honorably overseas in Vietnam from May 1968 until February 1971. After the service he returned to Oregon, where he resided in Portland and Winchester Bay. He met the love of his life in Eagle Point and on April 23, 1984, they were married at Myrtle Creek. From that union they have a son. Danny was a volunteer firefighter for Winchester Bay Fire Department before moving to the Scappoose area in 1986. As a hobby he bartered to do tractor work and cut firewood. He was known as the fire tender on all the family outings and hunting trips. He loved farming and his Kubota tractor.
