Leroy W. Ferris

May 8, 1948-March 1, 2011

Silverton resident Leroy W. Ferris died on March 1 at age 62; the cause of death was cancer.

He was born in Oregon City on May 8, 1948, to parents Claude and Myra Ferris. He was raised in Portland, where he graduated from Benson High School.

He was in the Air Force from 1966 to 1973; he took some college classes at that time.

He was a volunteer with the Cancer Society and was very active with the veterans. He liked the beach and fishing.

He lived in Portland until joining the service in 1966, and more recently had lived in Molalla and Silverton.

He is survived by: sons, Hunter J. and Jaxun Ferris; special friend, Jean Stevens; mother, Myra Ferris; the mother of his sons, Jill Ferris; sister and brother-in-law, Claudette and Phil Schutz; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Dennis Martin; brother, Leslie Ferris; brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Muriel Ferris, and brother and companion, Claude Ferris and Marjorie Meyer.

His father preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Knight Cancer Center at OHSU.

His memorial is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, at Willamette National Cemetery. His ashes have been scattered.
