Harvey D. James June 9, 1943 - February 10, 2013 DAYTON - Harvey died suddenly in his home on February 10, 2013. He is survived by his wife Joy James, four brothers Jesse, Frank, Alan, and Dennis, sister Jelma, and many nephews and nieces. Harvey served in the Navy from June 15, 1960-March 31, 1980. After retiring from the Navy he held various jobs as a machinist and plant maintenance technician. He attended Chemeketa Community College, earned an Associate's Degree in Manufacturing and taught classes there. Harvey was an active member of Amvets, OVMA, and the Elks. It has been said that Harvey created a "presence" when he entered a room. Harvey was very gregarious, drawing people from various walks of life to him. Harvey will be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and a widespread community. Memorial contributions may be made to Amvets 1776 in Independence. Viewing will be Friday February 15, 2013 and Saturday the 16th from 4-7 pm and Monday, February 18th from 4-7 PM at the Chapel of Macy & Son in McMinnville. Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 9:45 AM at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. A celebration of life will be held at McMinnville 7th Day Adventist Church, 1500 SW Old Sheridan Rd, McMinnville, OR 97128 at 1:00 pm on the same day.
