Mr. Thomas Glenn Shisler, 62 years of age, died on January 2, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. Thomas served in the United States Navy from 1970-1971 and was on the USS Cohoes. He was deployed to Vietnam during his tour of duty. He received an honorable discharge at the rank of E-3. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at Willamette National Cemetery. He has no family to attend his service.

Chaplain Terry Schrick (Retired Oregon Army National Guard) will be officiating the services and the Patriot Guard will be in attendance to pay tribute to their fellow Comrade.

As a military spouse myself, I can't express enough the importance of honoring those who have served our country and caring for those lost souls who have no one to claim them. I am honored to serve as their family member and hope that you can find time on Thursday to join us at Willamette National Cemetery so that we, as proud Americans and Oregonians, can honor the service and sacrifice of 2 heroes and prove that we truly leave no one behind.

All are invited to attend the services or to stop by Howell, Edwards, Doerksen Funeral Home and sign the register book for our Homeless Veterans. The register book will be available in our lobby as a part of our We Honor Veterans Display through Friday, January 30th.
