Dale served from 1968 to 1986 and retired at the rank of SFC (E-7). His Primary MOS was Recruiter & Career Counselor. His secondary MOS was Track Vehicle Mechanic. Dale was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, 2 Overseas Service Bars, and 2 Good Conduct Medals. |

In Memory of Dale Lynn Vinson February 27, 1949 - July 10, 2017 Obituary Dale Lynn Vinson passed away on July 10th, 2017, in Portland, Oregon. He was born on February 27th, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, to his parents: Charles David and Stella Mae (Hoar) Vinson. He attended Reynolds High School. Dale married the love of his life, Patricia Parks, on July 2nd, 1965, in Reno. They were married until his passing. At age 17, Dale enlisted in the United States Army. He attended St. Johns University while he was in the service. Dale served from March 30th, 1966, until his honorable discharge on April 1st, 1986. He served in Vietnam. For his service to our country, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Army Overseas Service Bars, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and two Good Conduct Medals. He retired from the United States Army after 20 years of Service. Following his retirement, he went to work for the Portland VA Medical Center, where he served as Chief Stewart Union and as the Supply Manager. After 18 years of service, he retired in 2000. Dale was an active member of the Oregon City VFW. He was the bar manager for many years. He also volunteered with the Elks, delivering food boxes to those in need at Christmas. He enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Dale will be remembered for his patriotism, and for his love of his country and family. --- A viewing will be held on Monday, July 17th, 2017, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 18th, 2017, at 12:00 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, with a Committal service immediately following at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Dale will be missed deeply by his family and friends. |
