I was in BLT 3-3 which was sent to the Persian Gulf in 1956. It was the Suez Crisis and the Saudi govt. was threatening to nationalize our oil interests. Pres. Eisenhower resolved that they would not. We intimidated them into backing down. We should have made the assault. Maybe we would not have the problems there today. |

| Comments,Praises,Gripes, What's On your mind? | I 'm trying to find out what kind of accident that my former fiance Henry Lee Ford died in at age 23 on Oct. 28, 1985 at Fort Pendleton base in San Clemente/San Diego, Calif. He was American Indian from Navajo tribe and also a Mormon. Born in Gallup, NM and raised in Burley, Idaho and went to Intermountain High School and BYU in Utah before enlistment in US Marine. His family said he died in the accident at Fort Pendleton base. But the Social Security Death Index record shows that he died in Virginia, his very last residence at the time of his death. So that means he transfered to another base in Quantico, Virgina from Fort Pendleton? My question is just what kind of accident was he in? auto accident? suicide? That is all I need to know. Is there anyone out there that knew what happened? How about newspaper article for Oct. 29, 1985 the day after he was reported dead? Please help! Maybe Native American Indian brothers know or remember something about him, I hope. Thank you for reading this. In Nov 1970 I was transferred to D/1/5 where I stayed until our unit went home in April 1971. In D/1/1 we operated mostly in the bush, from DaNang on the east to Laos in the west. In D/1/5, we were near division ridge, just west of DaNang most of the time, with occasional operations into the bush, such as the Que Son mountains. This is my first posting on any site in 31 years! Like most, I went home and tried to leave 'Nam behind, but it will always be will all of us as probably the most important, formative year(s) of our lives. The sacrifices Tony and all service men & women both living and deceased made, will never be forgotton!. I take great comfort in learning about the brother-hood and comrodery that all of the 1/5/1 delta guys share. Although he was the "fng" and killed on his first combat patroll he is still rememberd the same as the marine with 2 tours in country with an MOH!. Arthur was in F/2/5 attached to 1/5 the day of the fateful ambush. I am interested in how D/1/5 saw that day, and any reflections on what happened. The ambush was in the Vinh Huy village area of the Que Son Valley. |

Let me tell you I learned a lot of things from that class. I just want to thank all of you for all that you did. I drive a 1968 Camaro, and I often run in to Vets. telling me that when they were my age the car was new. They also share stories with me. I enjoy that alot.
