| Hampton, Gene C. 68 Aug. 26, 1944 Jan. 25, 2013 Gene was born in Orlando, Fla. After serving in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee, he married Cherie and they had a daughter, Monique. He earned a BA in accounting from University of Portland, settled in the area, divorced and married Gretchen. Serving as a salesman for ADP, Gene won numerous sales awards. He was later widowed and met Dot, they shared their retired years, traveling and spending time with friends. After losing a year-long battle with prostate cancer, Gene died peacefully in his home surrounded by those who loved him. He is survived by his love, Dot; daughter, Monique; grandchildren, Cole and Elise; mother, Jean; brothers, Bob and Joe; sister, Pam; along with other loving family and friends, too countless to name. Service at Willamette National Cemetery with military honors, pending. Published in The Oregonian on February 3, 2013 |
