Sumpter's nick name was RED , He had red hair, red freckles and stuttered, I was his squad leader, he was trying to get out of Vietnam on a hard ship discharge, I tried everything to get him home, or at least back to the rear, things were all coming together for him ,and on Sept. 8th , he died calling for his mom. I still cry for him, we all should." |
